Initial Preceptor Program
Requirements to attend per SOP 600-22:
NOTE: Numbers in red reflect the changes to SOP in review
- Maryland Licensure at the Paramedic level for at least 3 years
- A minimum of 2 years as a Career functioning Baltimore County Fire Department ALS provider
- This excludes those functioning as an ALS provider in the volunteer system for two (2) years without career experience
- A minimum of 1 year as a promoted Paramedic or Paramedic/Firefighter in Baltimore County Fire Department
- Must have been a consistently functioning ALS provider for 24 months
- Be approved by the Baltimore County Fire Department EMS Operational Program (EMSOP)
- Must not have documentation of department discipline and must not have any QA/QI concerns which encompass patient care or documentation, within 24 months
- Must have been a consistently functioning ALS Clinician for 24 Months
Documentation required to attend:
- (2) Letters of recommendations (Please use the attached Letter of Endorsement, for each of the officers listed below.)
- (1) Assigned Company Commander
- (1) Assigned EMS District Officer
- Current Resume
Please submit via email all required documentation to include a current resume & letters of endorsement to fireacademytraining@baltimorecountymd.gov ATTN: Jesse Knox no later than 1700 hours on February 5, 2026.
