Fire-Rescue 'Academy Status' Training Opportunities

Please read all registration instructions before submitting a request.

Seating confirmations are generally sent no less than ten (10) days prior to the class date. Walk-in registrations are not permitted.

Baltimore County Volunteer Orientation Program

The Baltimore County Volunteer Orientation Program is a joint training initiative between the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Fire Rescue Academy. This orientation is required for all new volunteer members and provides an overview of the Baltimore County Fire Department. Members who already possess current CPR certification or are certified as a MIEMSS EMT or higher are not required to attend the CPR session. Volunteer Orientation is held from 0800 hours until approximately 1200 hours. CPR training is held from 1230 hours until approximately 1630 hours. Both sessions are held at Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company. Members who are seated in the program will receive a seating confirmation no less than ten (10) days prior to the class date with additional information. If you only require CPR renewal, submit the registration form and then email fireacademytraining@baltimorecountymd.gov advising that you are an existing member who only requires CPR renewal. If you must withdraw from the course, notify the Fire Rescue Academy no later than three (3) days prior to the class date.

All new members wishing to ride apparatus as a non-entry level member must complete MFRI Hazardous Materials/WMD Awareness training. This course is offered monthly through MFRI. Members who already possess Hazardous Materials/WMD Operations certification are not required to complete Hazardous Materials/WMD Awareness. Please click here to be directed to the MFRI Website to register.

MFRI / Outside Registration

Some courses require registration through an outside agency or website in addition to submitting the FRA registration request. If the selected course requires outside registration, you will receive instructions by email after submitting the FRA form. Your registration is not complete until all required registration steps are completed.

Career members must have a current Form 503 on file with the Fire Department's Bureau of Health & Safety.  Volunteer members must have a current ENTRY level Appendix A on file.
