{"id":236,"date":"2017-09-04T18:28:44","date_gmt":"2017-09-04T18:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/?page_id=236"},"modified":"2025-09-11T15:17:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T19:17:06","slug":"ems-to-firefighter-bridge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/suppression\/ems-to-firefighter-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighter Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/login\/index.php\" target=\"_self\"  role=\"button\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tLog On to the InFERNO Learning Management System\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/cropped-Fire-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"50\" height=\"50\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Quick Links<\/em><\/strong>\n\t<h3>Emergency Medical Services to Firefighter Bridge Program<\/h3>\n<p>The EMS to Firefighter Bridge Program is an intense, physically and mentally demanding program designed to educate and evaluate EMS members wishing to be cleared to safely function as firefighters.\u00a0 Members that meet the required pre-requisites and who are prepared to commit the time and effort needed to be successful in the program are encouraged to register to receive a packet.\u00a0 Registration for the Spring 2026 session will close on October 17, 2025 at 1700 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates accepted into the course attend the two-week program while on-duty.<\/p>\n<strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><br \/>\nCandidates must possess the following prerequisites to be considered for the EMS to Firefighter Bridge Process:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firefighter II (MFSPQB, NBFSPQ, IFSAC or DoD-IFSAC certification)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Applicant must have a current Form 503 on file<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Letter of Endorsement by the candidate&#8217;s station officer <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Letter of Endorsement from the candidate&#8217;s Battalion or Deputy Chief<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The candidate is to notify their station officer and Battalion Chief or Deputy Chief of their intent to participate in the program and have them complete the endorsement forms.\u00a0 The above listed items are to emailed \u00a0to the <a href=\"mailto:fireacademytraining@baltimorecountymd.gov\">Fire Rescue Academy<\/a>\u00a0 The subject line should be <em>Bridge Program &#8211; Last Name, First Name<\/em>.\u00a0 Once all the above items are received you will receive a confirmation email.<\/p>\n<strong>Preparing for the Bridge Program<\/strong><br \/>\nCandidates must be physically fit and mentally prepared prior to the start of the program. Upon downloading the EMS to FF In-Station Packet \u00a0the candidate can utilize this packet to hone in on their skills.\u00a0 We ask that any signatures, signifying a completion of skills be within 365 days from the first day of the bridge in which you are enrolled. This packet must be completed <strong>in its entirety<\/strong> in order for an individual to be able to participate in the program.\u00a0 <strong>Officers shall not sign off on any skills not completed<\/strong>.\u00a0 Additionally, candidates will be tested on the skills listed below on the first day of the program.\u00a0 A candidate will have one same-day retest attempt for each skill (no remediation will be provided by the Bridge Cadre).\u00a0 If the candidate is unsuccessful on a retest attempt for either skill they will be immediately dismissed from the program and returned to their field assignment.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/FF-Skills-Card-PreReq-1-PPE-SCBA.pdf\">PPE\/SCBA Skill Card (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/FF-Skills-Card-PreReq-2-Knots.pdf\">Basic Fire Service Ropes and Knots Skill Card (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/FF-Skills-Card-PreReq-3-Maze.pdf\">Maze Skill Card (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Station-Officer-Letter-of-Endorsement.pdf\">Station Officer Letter of Endorsement<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/BC-or-DC-Letter-of-Endorsement.pdf\">Battalion Chief or Deputy Chief Letter of Endorsement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>Failing Any Portion of the Program<\/strong><br \/>\nAll candidates must actively participate in all aspects of the program.\u00a0 The performance and physical output of the candidates are constantly monitored and evaluated by the Cadre.\u00a0 No sessions may be missed for any reason.\u00a0 Time constraints do not permit the Cadre to re-teach basic firefighter skills or make-up missed sessions.\u00a0 Candidates who are unable to safely perform, and\/or require medical intervention at any point in the program may be immediately dismissed.\u00a0 These candidates are eligible to reapply for future bridge offerings.\n<strong>Interest Form<br \/>\n<\/strong>Please go to <a href=\"https:\/\/baltimorecountyfra.org\/inferno\/training-classes\/\">Training Classes &#8211;
